LOST SOUL – DarkWorld Book 2 has made it into reader’s hands at last. I had the most fun writing it and the most fun reading it too. And to be honest I’m very nervous because I enjoyed it so much I’m really worried about Last Chance and being able to write a book good enough to keep Lost Soul company. Kai was snarky and Logan was sexy, even Lily came out from under her moody-ass shell. Demon’s asses were kicked every which way and I had super fun writing it, action scenes and dialogue too.
I know I have to talk about delays and yes, Lost Soul was meant to release in November but I wasn’t well enough to edit it on time and then came Christmas and really, if you don’t take time to spend with your family what is the point of anything really. And trust me you guys want me to take care of this family ‘cos these are the people that make sure I am ok to write more of these books. I made a point of taking some time off although admittedly much of that time was spent being ill – I’ll try not to make it sound like its my favorite past-time okay.
Now, some good did come of the time off. New things are in the offing. Things as in books. Yes, a new series is in the making. It’s a DarkWorld Spin-off Series called the Soul Tracker Series – the first book is very unimaginatively named Soul Tracker – if you can come up with something more imaginative be my guest – post your suggestions in the comments and I will take them under advisement (seriously I will) This series is based on a new character who makes an appearance in the Lost Soul book so you will have to read Lost Soul to meet the Soul Tracker mwahaha! And be advised this series, as with the other DarkWorld books, is not Young Adult. They are for an older audience and contain older themes, more violence and more graphic themes.
So back to Lost Soul for now. LOST SOUL is on sale on AMAZON HERE for a discounted $3.99 until 5 FEB then it goes back to its normal price of $4.99 so go get it while its at its intro price.
Isn’t it always fun with a party? Well we decided to have one over on our Facebook Page so come join us. There will be giveaways – swag and ebooks – so come see what’s happening.

The day has finally arrived when FIRE goes into the big big world for readers to enjoy. I began writing this book in October 2011 then set it aside to write Dead Embers- Book 2 in the Valkyrie series. Juggling editing and writing, while preparing to launch Dead Radiance in Feb 2012 was no mean feat and something that pushed me outside my comfort zone simply because I wrote Dead Radiance uninterrupted from start to finish in July 2011, edited it uninterrupted in Sep 2011, then moved on to Fire in Oct 2011.
What happened next pulled me straight into the real world of a writer which is not just tapping away at the keys all day. It’s the juggle and dance of planning, writing, revision, edits, preparation for publication, promotion and marketing. With all the fun stuff how can a girl write?!
So I put Fire aside, finished Dead Embers, wrote a bit more of Fire, released that in Aug 2012
And then ended up in hospital from Sep to Oct 2012 with a three month semi-drugged (or lets be honest here, drugged is the best way to describe the zombieness of morphine) stint of almost no writing, while preparing for surgery that never happened (thank you stars!)
I did manage to finish Fire in Dec 2012 though but put it aside again to regroup and publish Skin Deep which had been waiting in the wings originally planned for a Nov 2012 release but delayed to said drug-induced zombieness.
I’m happy to say that at last things are back on track. Fire is now out there for all you lovely people to read. And Dead Chaos is in revisions soon to be released to eager Valkyrie fans.
Maya is just a kid wanting to be normal, rebelling against her upbringing, embarrassed that her parents believe in stuff that’s just myth and legend. But when she smokes a dude (aka kills him dead aka incinerates him to embers and dust) by accident she realizes there’s more to being Maya than she ever knew.
Fire has something for everyone: Gorgeous gods, deadly demons, freaking awesome fire power and lots of sizzling smooches. Not to mention a mythology that has seldom been explored, a peek into what it’s like living with ones self-generated prejudices, and what its like to go way beyond what you have ever expected just to accept something you denied in the first place. How Maya does it is the story of Fire- the Hand of Kali.
Expect to see book 2 at the end of the year. I’ve plotted and planned, researched and dreamed and am so ready to continue with Maya’s adventures.
… Just let me complete revision of DC and get that our to you guys end Aug or early Sep- will keep you posted.
… Oh, and just let me write Lost Soul (Bk 2 DarkWorld) which is next in line.
… And oh, finish revisions on the Seals of Hades series.
Ack! Why am I blogging instead of writing and revising and editing and … and … and…

It’s an overcast rainy day here in Auckland, been raining most of the night so it seems we are in for a very wet winter season. But yeah, if you live in Auckland you’re pretty much used to the rain.
A few minutes ago I was debating whether to read or to get back to my edits on Fire. Because I’m in recovery after a pretty bad 36 hour headache I really want to just curl up on the couch. With the fact that I recently downloaded Quickoffice Pro HD for my iPad I don’t have much of a choice at all. So now I’m curled up on the couch editing.
I pretty much can’t live without my ipad. Just this morning DH suggested I have it surgically attached to me … Lol, isn’t he just too funny?
About six months ago I went searching for an app that would allow me to edit on my iPad, making things a little more comfortable for me at the height of my edits. I discovered Cloudon and downloaded it happily. It’s clunky, and slow, but allowed me to use track changes so I could crit my CPs work and do my edits in bed, on the couch or at the coffee shop.
But on Wed I received an email from Cloudon thanking me for being part of their trial process (wish I’d known it was a trial??) and offering me the opportunity to use the track changes feature from now on for a price. $38.99 per year, about 4 bucks a week or just under $2 a day. What? Really? And they intended to begin charging users the very next day. Not much notice there guys…
So Cloudon put a serious kink in my plans as I was going away for a couple of days and intended to work mostly on my CPs manuscript which had a deadline (which I’d already missed but Mel so kindly gave me an extension. Isn’t she just awesome?)
So, fuming, I searched the iPad apps, found Quickoffice Pro HD and downloaded it immediately. Trigger happy, wasn’t I? Not really. With QO Pro HD at $24.99 for the app (For ever) common sense said I didn’t have much of a choice, duh! I happily paid for it, and will happily pay for upgrades in the future. Why should I (or anyone else) pay $38.99 per year for something we can pay $24.99 for outright. Did Cloudon not do their research? Market analysis? Maybe there is some reason they think they are justified in their charges but seriously, I do prefer the QO app. It’s neater, the track changes are easy to use and the program is not slow. Cloudon otoh, looks a lot like the actual Word doc but was slow to scroll, clunky, and reload took too much time.
So, I’ve left Cloudon for something much better and easier to use.
What does this mean?
It means I no longer have a reason to not edit, simply because I can relax on the couch and edit. It also means I can work more… Haha…bet DH would love to hear me say that.
Now for something a little more fun… My lovely design consultant Leigh has been playing with title fonts of the Fire cover as it gets closer to full reveal.
Maya is giving me a run for my money too. This book is coming along, and I’m having so much fun with gods and demons, magic and fight scenes. And, horror of horrors, I had to delete two chapters! But seriously it’s not bad at all. Doing so will tighten the manuscript and keep the story moving. (Remembers editors comments on moving the story along, and chuckles) Thank goodness I’m not the kind of writer who faints at the thought of killing her darlings.
I’m hoping to have all edits done by end of June with an early to mid July release. I may announce the release date when I do the full cover reveal *crosses fingers
Now, back to editing on the couch…
So tell me…
Do you use an iPad to work?
What apps do you find awesome to use?
Do you like to relax and work like me or are you a work is work and relax is relax kind of person?
Panther Shape-shifter Kailin Odel just wants to be normal. Leaving her clan, and her Alpha responsibilities, to live with her grandmother in Chicago had been the best thing for her. Only then did she discover her ability to track and kill the soul sucking undead creatures called Wraiths. Now she protected the humans, and had something to be proud of.
But, when she discovers the body of a murdered shape shifter, Kailin has to come to terms with the reality that her own kind are just as vulnerable as the humans.
The closer Kailin gets to the killer the more she has to face the intricacies of her people. When the time comes can she accept who and what her real purpose is?

If you are familiar with authors you will know that many a manuscript lies in that special drawer (or folder) collecting the dust of doubt and the lack of belief. It’s no surprise that writers can lack a lot in the self-esteem department. Often it will take just one comment to sway your entire purpose. So I have this drawer just like all my other author buddies. And like many of them, although I loved the novel, I wasn’t sure that people would be interested in reading it. This, compounded by numerous agent rejections for Skin Deep, let me to place this novel in the ‘The virtual Drawer” consigned to collecting the dust of the years.
But something changed (Don’t bother asking me what changed- I’m still trying to figure that out myself!)
I pulled the files out from folders that are no longer even in use, opened it up and skimmed a bit. It was only when I felt myself needing to read more that I realised the story had a life all of its own. And I had to force myself to close the file even though I kept wanting to read more (Fire edits are priority today)… I remembered how much I loved the characters, how much I loved writing this book, and I realised that with a little editing this could be another book that will shine.
So, even though I’m probably insane for adding another project into my already insane schedule, I guess I am giving in…
You can look out for The Seals of Hades, later in 2013.
In a world where mythological beings exist side by side, the Brotherhood of the Irin recruits winged beings from around the world. Valkyries, Angels, Faerie and Apsara’s work together to fight evil and guard the portals to the Underworlds, keeping human Earth safe.
Angel Evangeline is the strongest, most loyal Warrior of the Irin. When the brotherhood’s actions cause Evie to question their motives, her first duty is to protect the Twelve Seals of Hades. But as usual Evie gets more than she bargains for and sets off a chain of events that plunges her into the Underworld, brings her face to face with her haunted past, and throws her straight into the arms of Hades.
A rich world filled with demons and angels, faerie and immortals. An intriguing blend of Myth and legend that will satisfy your Urban Fantasy reading needs… PS. There’s a demon in this book that I really adore- when you read the story you will totally know what I mean..
DEAD RADIANCE & DEAD EMBERS will be on tour in APRIL with the lovely peeps at Nevermore PR- more details to follow.
